Adrienne Buettner-Cable, a senior at Des Moines Roosevelt High in Iowa, won the inaugural girls elite high school mile in 4:49.58 at the 113th Drake Relays at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa. Buettner-Cable, who elevated to the No. 2 mile competitor in Iowa prep history behind only Linn-Mar graduate Stephanie Jenks, also prevailed in the girls 800 meters earlier in the day in 2:10.62.
